Vestibular physical therapy for dizziness, vertigo, and balance problems in Burlington, NC
Dizziness is disorienting, frightening, and exhausting — and it is very treatable. Many causes of dizziness and vertigo come from the inner ear (vestibular system) or the neck, and both respond well to targeted physical therapy. Our physical therapist will determine what is driving your symptoms and guide you through the specific maneuvers and exercises that help your brain and body regain their balance.
Common conditions we treat
- Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) — room-spinning with rolling over or looking up
- Vestibular hypofunction (inner ear weakness) after infection or illness
- Cervicogenic dizziness (dizziness related to the neck)
- Post-concussion dizziness and visual motion sensitivity
- Persistent unsteadiness, imbalance, and fear of falling
- Motion sensitivity and difficulty in busy visual environments
How we help
- A detailed one-hour evaluation including positional testing, eye-movement and gaze stability testing, balance and gait assessment, and a neck screen
- Canalith repositioning maneuvers (such as the Epley maneuver) for BPPV, which often resolves in just one to three visits
- Customized vestibular rehabilitation — gaze stabilization, habituation, and balance retraining exercises
- Hands-on treatment for the neck when it is contributing to your dizziness
- Education on symptom management and a clear home program delivered through the Physitrack app
What to expect
Please arrange a ride to your first visit if driving with your symptoms feels unsafe. We will move at a pace you are comfortable with, explain what we find as we go, and give you a clear plan. Many patients with BPPV feel dramatically better after the very first session.
